Four men, including Duong Dang Hoan from Hanoi and Phan Van Sang from Vinh Phuc province, hired a house in Hanoi’s suburbs to process white horse bone glue on the morning of April 10.

Sang directly cooked bone glue in a pig-iron pot. Other people sat on a stone chair in front of the house. The pot suddenly exploded. Debris and pieces of bones were thrown out.

“After the explosion, debris and bones spat out dozens of meters. Sang lied on the ground. His face was covered with blood. Other people ran away,” says Ms. Nguyen Thi Tien, who lives near the house.

Sang was brought to hospital but he was dead.

Vietnamese believe that white bone glue is very useful for treating bone diseases, rheumatism, lung diseases, asthma and good for retarded children.
