“You are Vietnam’s future Idol like the US’ Scotty,” “You look so naïve but you have so surprising voice. This stage is yours” or “I feel the vehement feeling in each word” are several of many praises for the 12-year-old boy.
Vu, who is studying at a junior secondary school in Hai Phong, has surprised Vietnamese Internet users by his singing talent and his excellent English accent.
The manager of the Hai Phong-based Acoustic studio, it took Vu a single time and less than five minutes to record this song, which gave many people the creeps.
Many people compare Vu with the US’ Billy Gilman (a country music child prodigy) or Scotty McCreery (the youngest American Idol). Some commented that Vu sings better than 17-year-old Prince of Pop Justin Bieber, one of the music phenomena on Youtube.
It is said that the boy recorded “My Heart Will Go On” for fun to celebrate his 12th birthday, with another Vietnamese song entitled “My Grandmother”, which is very difficult to sing. The manager of the Acoustic studio said Vu recorded the second song within 30 minutes.
Some music phenomena of Vietnam have appeared on the Internet recently, including a 23-year-old male student who can mimic the voice of 13 famous Vietnamese singers, 17-year-old schoolgirl Thai Trinh or Magnet band with a potpourri of children’s song.
“Vietnam needs to have a competition as Vietnam’s Got Talent to online phenomena like Mai Quoc Viet, Magnet band, Thai Trinh or Vu Song Vu can show their talents in the majority of audience. I believe that they are talented as Susan Boyle, Justin Bieber or Jackie Evancho,” one wrote on Youtube.
