A report about the Internet use in Vietnam in December 2012 showed that 95 percent of Internet users access news websites regularly, nearly 4 billion video clips have been watched. Meanwhile, 79 percent have accessed to online markets and 61 percent of users made online payment.

The figures show that Vietnamese now tend to use more online services. They make the decisions on shopping, seeking information, communicating with friends and learning via Internet. This is really a golden mine for the digital content distribution firms to exploit.

However, in order to provide high quality digital services to users, the firms need to have good infrastructure, especially good servers.

In the past, when a company which needs to run an online ad campaign, the first thing it would do is to upgrade the server system and Internet bandwidth. It was always very costly, and if they did not use up the resources, it would be a big waste.

Huong from a digital content distribution firm said online marketing and PR is a perfect solution for digital entertainment firms.

“Some companies would demand the ads in video clips, while others would demand flash banners. However, in all cases, it would require the servers with strong configuration to store the data,” she explained.

“The bigger the ad campaigns are, the stronger servers are required. If businesses are not financially capable enough to lease strong servers, they would be sure of failure,” she added.

NetCitzens Vietnam 2011 of Cimigo showed that 60 percent of polled Internet users once download music and 23 percent downloaded films. Meanwhile, the percentage of film downloaders has increased by 6 percent in comparison with the years prior to 2009.

The high demand for film and music downloads, according to experts, has turned Vietnam into a fertile land for the data storage and sharing websites to develop.

Fshare, Megashare, 4share, Mediafire, Megaupload are the best known names to Vietnamese Internet users.

Sharing, storing files anywhere, anytime

FPT Telecom now provides the data storage and sharing service Fshare.vn to big enterprises, small and medium scale enterprises and individual clients under the mode of public cloud, allowing users to store and share files anywhere and anytime.

Especially, the Hotfile feature allows users, when uploading data to Fshare.vn, to share the files, so that the users who receive the URLs can download at the maximum speed, no need to have Fshare.vn VIP account.

In general, when running their campaigns, digital content distributors have to solve many problems, such as easing the pressure on the server when the number of visitors/downloaders increases sharply. But if they buy Hotfile bandwidth, the problems, which could be the headache to them, would be settled.

In this case, digital content distributors would “lease Fshare.vn’s server” to carry out their campaigns. They do not care how Fshare.vn prepares the server and how the server operates, they just have to pay for the downloading capacity.

To date Fshare.vn has cooperated with over 50 big forums and communities in Vietnam namely banbe.net, gsm.vn, tinhte.vn to provide services under the mode of cloud computing.
