Dozens of singers and musicians will perform the works of late songwriter Trinh Cong Son at a free outdoor concert to be held on HCM City’s Book Pedestrian Street on Friday night.
Pop star Cam Van will perform works of the late composer Trinh Cong Son at a free outdoor concert to be held on HCM City’s Book Pedestrian Street in District 1 tomorrow.
Pop stars Cam Van and Duc Tuan are expected to sing before more than 1,000 guests.
The show, called "In Memory of Trinh Cong Son", will feature young singers Bich Ngoc, Tan Son and Lan Nha.
Famous saxophonists Tran Manh Tuan and An Tran, and the dance group Soul Music, will also be on hand.
Organised by Son’s family and his friends, the event aims to celebrate the artist 16 years after his death. It will begin at 6pm on Nguyen Van Binh Street in District 1.
At another event celebrating Son, a gala called "Joining Hands for Solidarity" will be held at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Hue.
Working with the university, singer Trinh Vinh Trinh, Son’s younger sister, said the show would be a special experience.
Son’s popular works, including Ru Tình (Lullaby to Love) and Hue-Sai Gon-Ha Noi and Noi Vong Tay Lon (Joining Hands for Solidarity), will all be performed by veteran singers like Bao Yen, Tinh Uyen and Trinh.
A highlight of the evening will be the performance of songs Sơn wrote praising the country, such as A Spring Morning and Afternoon in My Country.
A group of amateur singers from music clubs who love Son’s music will be invited to perform.
The performance will start at 8:00pm at 6 Ngo Quyen Street on April 21. Tickets are free.
