Traffic police departments in Ha Tinh and Nghe An are investigating a disturbing incident in which a sleeper bus driver was caught playing a mobile game while driving on the route from Hanoi to Ha Tinh.

The incident sparked public outrage after passengers recorded the dangerous act and posted the clip on social media.

A 2-minute and 52-second video recently surfaced online, capturing the moment the driver used his phone to play a game while operating the bus.

The clip, shared by a passenger, was accompanied by the caption: "A nearly 400 km journey home, and I was terrified the entire way. Getting off midway was not an option since I couldn’t find another ride."

The video quickly went viral, drawing widespread condemnation from netizens who accused the driver of recklessly endangering passengers' lives.

The bus in question, bearing license plate 38B - 012.14, belongs to a transportation company based in Huong Son District, Ha Tinh Province.

The company operates long-distance passenger services on the Hanoi - Ha Tinh route. The footage was recorded while the bus was passing through Nghe An Province.

A representative from the bus company, Hoang Nam, confirmed that the driver shown in the video works for them.

Speaking to VietNamNet on the evening of March 20, the representative said: "We have taken disciplinary action against the driver according to company regulations. This afternoon, the driver presented himself to the Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Province."

The Traffic Police Department of Ha Tinh Province also confirmed that they are conducting an investigation to clarify the details of the case.
