The Vietnam Students' Association (VSA) organised a ceremony in Hanoi on January 7 to honour outstanding students and organisations with “Students with Five Good Performances” title and January Star Awards 2017.

The ceremony also aimed to celebrate the 68th anniversary of Traditional Day of Vietnamese students and the VSA (January 9, 1950-2017).
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh; Head of the Central Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan, who is also the former President of the Vietnam Student Association; and President of the Vietnam Students' Association Le Quoc Phong.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh affirmed that youth in general and students in particular are the future of the country. Over the past 68 years, the VSA has gradually become the bridge and the companion of the generation of students nationwide.
He also urged Vietnamese students to grasp the new knowledge of humanity and contribute to the cause of national construction and defence. Meanwhile, he asked the VSA to promote its role in launching emulation movements and promoting creativity of Vietnamese students, and support students in in learning, living and start-up activities.
At the ceremony, the central-level “Students with Five Good Performances” title were presented to the outstanding 124 students and 13 organisations while the January Star Awards was presented to another 138, in recognition of their brilliant academic results and contributions to the students’ movements.
