This trend raises questions about the factors influencing students' decisions to forgo higher education despite being admitted.
According to the MoET's data, 673,586 students were offered university placements in the first round of 2024, marking an increase of 58,116 students compared to 2023.
However, only 551,479 students confirmed their enrollment, representing 81.87% of those accepted. This means that 18.13% of accepted students, or 122,107 individuals, chose not to pursue university education.
Compared to the previous year, the enrollment rate post-acceptance has seen a slight improvement, rising from 80.34% in 2023 to 81.87% in 2024.
Today marks the final day for students who have been officially accepted into universities and colleges, including those specializing in early childhood education, to confirm their enrollment online for the first round.
This must be done through the MoET’s admissions system using each student’s personal account. This step is essential for students who were officially accepted in the virtual filtering process, which took place from August 17 to 19.
Only after confirming online can students proceed with in-person enrollment procedures at their respective institutions.
If students do not confirm their enrollment on the system by 5 PM on August 27, they will be considered to have declined their admission.
