VietNamNet Bridge – More than 13,000 people joined the Lawrence S.Ting charity walk in HCM City’s Phu My Hung new residential area on January 22 to raise fund for the poor on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
Participants walked 2.87 km around Phu My Hung. This is the sixth walk of its kind, which was held by the authorities of district 7, 8, Nha Be, Binh Chanh, the Saigon Giai Phong (Liberated Saigon) newspaper and Phu My Hung Company.
The organizers donated the proceeds worth VND2.9 billion ($150,000) from the “walk to for the poor” funds of the above-said districts, a fund for sports talents in HCM City and a fund of the HCM City Television.
Over the past six years, the program has attracted more than 66,500 participants and collected over VND6 billion. Last year, 13,500 people joined the program and raised VND2.5 billion.
