VietNamNet Bridge – Hue Festival 2016 will take place from April 29 to May 4 in the former imperial capital of Hue, with 22 local and 20 foreign art troupes.

The 20 international art troupes come from 15 countries including the U.S., France, Belgium, Colombia, Denmark, Poland, Israel, Russia, Sri Lanka, Japan, Korea and China.

Two major national art programs at the Hue Festival will be the Hue Buddhism Day to honor the unique values of Buddhist music and dance at Nghinh Luong Temple and Trinh Cong Son music show at Trinh Cong Son Park by the Huong River.

The cost for organizing the Buddhism Day will be four times higher than in previous Buddhist fests, according to the organizer, while it will need VND1 billion (nearly US$40,000) for the Trinh Cong Son music show.

Besides performances highlighting different cultures in the world and Vietnamese art culture, especially Hue’s, there will be performances to reproduce Hue royal activities, folk art and parachute performances, and a street festival featuring both local and foreign artists.

Other activities include art exhibition, kite, calligraphy, street music performances, scientific conferences, and international trade fairs as well as sport, food and tourism programs.
