VietNamNet Bridge – The Museum of Can Tho City in the Mekong Delta has opened an exhibition of unique potteries, collected by Vo Minh Man and Tran Quoc Doan.

Vietnam is one of the cradles of pottery in the world. Its potteries reflect cultural characters of a multi-ethnic group country.

Collectors Vo Minh Man and Tran Quoc Doan are very enthusiastic with preserving traditional culture. They have spent many years and money to collect antique potteries of various genres throughout the country.

The exhibition introduces more than 200 items of typical pottery styles of various regions like Chu Dau, Bat Trang in northern Vietnam, O Chau and Quang Duc in the central Vietnam, Cay Mai, Lai Thieu and Bien Hoa in southern Vietnam.

Items are arranged in topics to show their roles in life: potteries in architecture, in belief and worship, in daily life and potteries for decoration.

Collectors said that through this exhibition, visitors will partly see the diversification of Vietnam’s potteries in its history.

The event will last until April 16, 2012.
