VietNamNet Bridge – After listen to Buddhist monks’ lecturers about filial piety and patriotism, thousands of young people in Da nang released flower garlands and colored lanterns to wish for peace and prosperity for the country and longevity for their parents.
From 5am on July 28, 3,200 people aged 14 to 29 gathered at the Tien Son Sports Center in Da nang to listen to monks talk about filial piety and longevity.
Young people were also taught about doing alms-deeds and to stay away from social evils. This free-of-charge program was held for the first time by the Da nang Buddhist Shangha and Bat Nha Temple.
At 9pm, they lighted up lanterns to pray for peace and prosperity for the country and longevity and happiness for their parents.
Many kids also participated the program.
At another corner, parents also lightened up lanterns to pray for peace for the country.
Many people said that this 17-hour program was very meaningful because it offered them a chance to find inner peace and together pray for the country and their parents.
