VietNamNet Bridge - Customs officials at Noi Bai International Airport recently thwarted a passenger’s bid to smuggle more than 6.5kg of heroin hidden in luggage into Vietnam.

Customs inspectors noticed some lumpiness in luggage belonging to Dinh Dac Khanh when making a routine check for contraband of Flight VN593 from Hong Kong to Hanoi on August 10.

Upon further investigation, they found 12 cans containing yellow powder tucked away in Khanh’s suitcases.

A quick test indicated that 6 cans tested positive for 1.984kg of the synthetic drug (AST) and 8 cans for 4.572kg of cocaine.

All of the contraband along with Dinh Dac Khanh were handed over to the Hanoi Police Department on August 11 for further investigation.
