VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) announced 902 people, 899 of whom have resided in Vietnam for at least 20 years, were granted Vietnamese citizenship in 2013.

MoJ Office chief Tran Tien Dung told a press briefing in Hanoi on December 31 that processing times for citizenship applications have been shortened.
He said foreigners adopted 360 children in 2013, 55.8% more than in 2012. Vietnamese families adopted 2,880 children. Sixty-three provinces and cities registered more than 2 million births, up 12.2%, and registered 839,860 marriages, up 9.2% (including 12,580 marriages with foreigners, up 3%).
By November 2013, ministries and agencies had completed simplifying 3,921 out of 4,751 administration procedures. The push to minimise bureaucracy involved the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and the Inspectorate of Vietnam.
Regulations increased from the Ministry of Home Affairs (98%), the Ministry of Science and Technology (96%), the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (94%), the Ministry of Construction (93%), the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Health (92%).
