According to the General Statistics Office, in September 2021, the number of newly registered enterprises reached 3,899, down 62.2% over the same period in 2020, with a total registered capital of only 62.4 trillion VND, down 69.3%.
In the past nine months of 2021, the total number of newly established enterprises was 85,500, down 13.6% year on year. The average registered capital of a newly established company reached 14 billion VND, down 3.1%.
The total registered capital of newly-registered enterprises during this period was 1,195.8 trillion VND and the total number of registered employees was 648,800, a decrease of 13.6% in the number of enterprises and 16.3% in the registered capital.
The number of enterprises withdrawing from the market was 90,300, an increase of 15.3%. On average, 10,000 businesses withdrew from the market every month.
According to the General Statistics Office, the data may not reflect the actual number of businesses withdrawing from the market, because in many localities where social distancing was imposed, local businesses could not perform related procedure.
According to a survey by the General Statistics Office, the impact of the 4th outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic has greatly affected Vietnamese enterprises. Only 38.6% of surveyed enterprises rated production and business activities in the third quarter of 2021 to be better and stable compared to the second quarter of 2021 (13.2% improved and 25.4% kept stable). Meanwhile, 61.4% of enterprises said production and business activities were more difficult.
The predicted situation in the fourth quarter of 2021 is expected to be better when up to 73.7% of enterprises said that their business and production situation would be better and stable (43.4% better, 30.3% remain stable), while only 26.3% said that the situation would be worse.
The General Statistics Office also surveyed the factors affecting production and business of enterprises in the four southern provinces and cities that are most affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.
In Ho Chi Minh City, only 9.7% of enterprises said the production and business situation in the third quarter of 2021 was better than in the second quarter of 2021 or stable. As many as 49.4% of businesses forecasted that the situation in the fourth quarter of 2021 would be more positive than the third quarter of 2021, while the rest said it would be more difficult.
In Binh Duong province, 50.7% of enterprises said that the production and business situation in the third quarter of 2021 was better and stable compared to the second quarter of 2021. Up to 87.2% of enterprises believed that the situation would be better in the fourth quarter of 2021 compared with the third quarter.
In Dong Nai, only 0.4% of enterprises rated the production and business situation in the third quarter of 2021 better than the second quarter of 2021. Up to 75.8% believed that the situation would be more stable and better in the fourth quarter of 2021.
In Long An province, no enterprise assessed the production and business situation of enterprises in the third quarter of 2021 better than in the second quarter of 2021. Around 56.1% of businesses said the situation would be better in the fourth quarter of 2021 compared to the third quarter.
