The concert, Tinh Mot Ngay Cung Tram Nam (Love for A Hundred Years), is expected to attract more than 1,000 people.
Thanh Tuyen has invited Viet kieu singers Thai Chau, Son Tuyen and Bang Kieu to perform at the event.
She will also sing with Vietnamese singers Le Quyen and Hoai Lam at the show, which will feature bolero songs that made Thanh Tuyen famous worldwide.
She will perform Con Duong Xua Em Đi (The Way You Walked in the Past), Noi Buon Hoa Phuong (Sorrow of the Flamboyant Flower), Duyen Kiep (Fate in Love) and Chuyen Ba Nguoi (Story of Three People), composed by artists Chau Ky, Thanh Son, Lam Phuong and Quoc Dung before 1975.
A series of vong co, southern Viet Nam’s signature long tunes songs will also be featured.
Thanh Tuyen, whose real name is Nguyen Nhu Mai, was born in 1949 in Da Lat. She began studying music when she was five years old. Two years later, she performed at the Thong Nhat Theatre in Sai Gon (now HCM City).
In 1964, she signed an exclusive contract with the Continental Studio in Sai Gon.
She quickly became popular and released several albums, and later won dozens of music awards presented by music producers and studios.
Thanh Tuyen and her family moved to the US and settled in Washington DC and then Houston in 1979.
She has worked with several music producers and entertainment companies in the US and France. She plays guitar and dances as well.
Tuyen sings the way she feels. “When I perform, the music and my emotions become one,” the 67-year-old singer said.
Tuyen’s live show will begin at 8pm on December 15 at the Adora Luxury Centre, 198 Hoang Van Thu Street, Tan Binh District. Tickets are available at the theatre’s box office.
