The accident happened on August 30, at around 6-12pm, but the dead bodies were found five days later since the port was closed for the National Day holiday (September 2).

On September 5, Cai Lan port’s authorities announced that the two victims are not the port’s employees. They are workers of Ha Long city-based Thuong Viet JS Company, who were assigned to receive cargo at Cai Lan Port.

The two workers, named Bui Van Thuong and Nguyen Xuan Cuong, both 18, from Dong Trieu district, Quang Ninh province, climbed up on a 20-feet container to sleep. They were killed when a forklift truck driver piled another container on the container where the two workers were.

The incident was detected when the victims’ families reported their missing to police. The bodies were found on September 4.

Police are keeping investigation on the case.
