On the evening of October 26, a representative from Long Hai Commune's People’s Committee, Phu Quy District, confirmed the incident, in which a paddleboard capsizing led to the disappearance of two tourists.

At approximately 6:10 PM, the group of six tourists went paddleboarding about 200 meters offshore in Long Hai, using two paddleboards. Strong waves overturned the boards, causing all six individuals to fall into the sea.

Locals and other tourists managed to bring three victims back to shore. By 8:00 PM, authorities and local residents had rescued one additional tourist, but two remained missing.

According to Phap Luat TP.HCM, the Phu Quy Border Guard Station reported receiving information from Mr. Nguyen Khanh Linh, owner of Villa Windy, on the afternoon of October 26, about six tourists who went swimming and paddleboarding, using only one life jacket. The incident occurred about 200 meters from the shore in an area where paddleboarding is prohibited.

At 6:10 PM, strong winds and currents dragged the tourists further from shore, prompting them to call Mr. Linh for help. Three female tourists were brought ashore by local rescuers. However, one female and two male tourists were still adrift, and when the rescue boat returned, it could not locate them.

At 7:00 PM, one male tourist, identified as N.X.H. (26 years old, from Dien Bien Province), managed to swim to shore approximately 1 km from the accident site. The two missing individuals have been identified as C.H.M. and N.N.K.T., both 19 years old and from Lam Dong Province.

By 8:00 PM, the Border Guard deployed two boats, one canoe, a fishing vessel, and 12 fishermen to expand the search area.

The group of six tourists arrived at Phu Quy Island on October 22 and initially stayed at Mau Cua Nang Homestay. They checked out at noon on October 26 and then registered at Villa Windy in Quý Hải Hamlet, Long Hai Commune.
