VietNamNet Bridge – A painting and photo exhibition to raise fund for disadvantaged students in the mountainous province of Lao Cai, Vietnam opened at the Muisiikkitalo Mannerheimintie Theater in Helsinki, Finland on August 27.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Finland Pham Thi Ngoc Bich said that in the context of Finland’s preparation for the 100th National Day, this event contributes to enhancing understanding about the country and people of Finland as well as strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and Finland in the fields of culture and education.

Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha said that this is a very meaningful cultural exchange event, which strengthens diplomatic relations between the two countries and helps Finnish better understand about the country and Vietnamese people and vice versa.

This event is more meaningful when the fund raised from the exhibition will be used by the event organizer - OyWise consulting company - to buy books for the Coc Ly 2 boarding school in Bac Ha district, Lao Cai Province of Vietnam. 

Minister Nha said that although the Vietnamese Government has paid special attention to mobilizing resources for poverty reduction and social development, there are still significant differences in income and economic development between ethnic groups and geographic areas in Vietnam.

Kristiina Uusitalo, a well-known Finnish artist, said in the field of art, she had used images of landscapes to change people's minds. Despite differences in terms of culture, customs, etc., all share the same wish of creating the best things for the children's future. 

Kristina said that this year she met Vietnamese people who really gave their heart to children.
