At about 10 am on June 29, Sergeant Major Duong Thanh Dat and Do Huu Duc of the traffic police team No. 5 of Hanoi Police Department were on duty on the roads of Nguyen Son and Nguyen Van Cu in Long Bien district when they heard someone shouting “robbery, robbery."

The two traffic police officers and police of Gia Thuy Ward were present quickly to control a young man who was being held by a foreigner.

At the Gia Thuy ward police station, the young man declared his name Nguyen Nhu Quynh (born 1985 in Nghe An province), with a previous conviction and a previous offence.

Quynh followed the Pakistani man on the bus that ran through Long Bien district. At a bus stop on Nguyen Van Cu Road, he picked the foreign man’s wallet and was detected by the victim.

Mr. Abdull Rauf Khan - a Pakistani businessman - after receiving timely assistance from the police, through his assistant wrote a letter to express his appreciation for the quick help of Vietnamese police officers.

Mr. Abdull Rauf Khan said that he has been through many countries in the world but he has never received such enthusiastic help like the police in Vietnam. After only 3 minutes, the police were present to help him.
