VietNamNet Bridge – The French YDA Ciné Club - has unveiled it will screen three Vietnamese short films on April 16 at the La Clef Cinema in Paris.

When I am 20 (Khi toi 20) directed by Phan Dang Di. The film was first screened at the Short Film Competition at the 2008 Venice Film Festival.

It tells the fictional tale of a young couple in love live in a room so low they cannot stand up. The girl, who works as a prostitute to support her family, often talks to her lover about her clientele.

Another City (Mot thanh pho khac) directed by Pham Ngoc Lan was previously screened at the 2016 Berlinale Short Films Competition.

It’s a cinematic essay documentary about the life of a mature woman, a bride and a group of young people who seek closeness in the anonymity of the big city.

In Smoke and Clouds – Letters from Panduranga (Trong khoi va may) directed by Nguyen Trinh Thi The previously won Best Emerging Artist Using Digital/Video at the 2016 Prudential Eye Awards.

After the screening, there will be a discussion on independent cinema in Vietnam with two main speakers – film-marker Nguyen Trinh Thi and Director Phan Dang Di.
