Mr. Park arrived at Incheon International Airport on February 14 and was welcomed by a large number of reporters and fans. He attended a press conference at the airport, where he was unable to hide his excitement when talking about Vietnamese fans’ love for him.
He said: “Today, I officially returned to my hometown after 5 years and 4 months leading the Vietnamese national team. I didn't think I would receive such a warm welcome.”
“Thanks for your attention. I think it's been a successful journey. Thank you to everyone in my hometown who have always supported and encouraged me during my time leading the Vietnamese team. That is a great encouragement!”
He also emphasized: “I am grateful to Vietnam and Vietnamese fans. Without your support and encouragement, I would not have been able to achieve success. Thank you for being with me all the time!”.
Answering questions about his future job, Mr. Park said: "I have been with Vietnam for more than 5 years, so I have a lot of affection with this country. Even though I don't lead the Vietnamese national team anymore, I still have a good relationship with them. I'm thinking about training young football players or another direction."
"I will not be a coach in Vietnam or Korea. But if the last chance comes, I think I can coach for another 2-3 years," he added.
Mr. Park stayed in Korea for only several days for filming a TV program and then returned to Vietnam.
