At 11am on January 2, Parkson Keangnam, located on Pham Hung Road in Hanoi, unexpectedly issued a notice requesting the owners of stalls to take away their goods.

Phuong Anh, who works at a cosmetics kiosk at the shopping mall, said though she was surprised about the notice, she still decided to move her goods.

However, 50 security guards of Keangnam Landmark, the tallest tower in Vietnam, came in and asked workers to stop carrying goods away.

The police came at 1:30 pm on the same day and discussed the problem the building’s security guards. At 2pm, workers were allowed to leave the building, while goods were left inside.

Meanwhile, Tu, a worker at an interior furnishings kiosk owned by a Japanese, said that another notice was released on January 3, which said the goods owners had to carry away their goods on that day.

But some other workers were told on January 2 to take out their goods on January 3 and 4.

On January 4, when Lao Dong reporters arrived, they still saw workers moving goods out of the building under the supervision of security guards.

At the entrance door to Parkson, there was a notice board that Parkson Landmark 72 Shopping Mall would be temporarily closed until January 7, 2015 to carry out inventory.

Tu from the interior furnishings kiosk said he had heard that some other kiosks on the second and third floors were asked to take goods away days ago, while his kiosk was still operating as usual.

Tu said that the contracts signed between Parkson and the owners of the kiosks were still valid, and that Parkson broke the contracts when asking the owners to leave.

A local newspaper reported that Parkson Hanoi had informed its partners about the closure of the shopping mall at Keangnam Landmark building, saying that the last business day was January 2, 2015.

In the notice sent to partners, Parkson Hanoi said the shopping mall had been performing badly since the day it opened in 2011.
