On January 5, the 11th Party Central Committee opened its 10th Plenum in Hanoi that is expected to adopt draft documents and decide many other important issues.

The draft document for submission to the 12th National Party Congress include political and socio-economic development reports, a review of the implementation of the Party Statute.

Delegates are to give opinions on a number of reports and projects to help the Politburo revamp them for more effective implementation in the coming time.

In his statement, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong underscored the need to scrutinize the draft document with a focus on specific proposals and recommendations, guidelines, policies and renewal breakthrough strategies.

Regarding the socio-economic report, Party leader Trong suggested the Party Central Committee to give accurate assessment of the socio-economic situation and take into account new opportunities and advantages while coping with unforeseen difficulties and challenges to devise orientations and tasks for the next 5 years (2016- 2020).

“It is imperative to resolve emerging social and economic problems, primarily those directly affecting the nation’s rapid and sustainable development. The year 2015 is of great significance for the entire Party, people and army to spare no efforts to fulfill the targets and tasks set by the 11th National Party Congress.” Trong said.

The10th Plenum’s agenda runs through January 12.
