According to the Party Chief, members of the 11th Party Central Committee must have long-term visions and renovation minds.
Reader nguyentrungdan@... analysed: “The new age is the age of knowledge-base economics. Without a long-term vision and renovation-oriented thinking, the party will be unable to lead the nation in the right direction, to grasp the opportunity and mix with the flow of age. I agree with the call of intellectuals to have the second Doi Moi (renovation)”.
From HCM City, phamquang@... wrote: “We have passed the period of economic renovation with good results in the past 20 years. But the leaders of the new period can’t lead the country by experience. Without long-term visions and courage to make changes, our country will be left behind.”
Minh Quang from Da Nang wrote: “We call for combating corruption, waste and wrongdoings but all of them will become nonsense if we can’t choose good leaders.”
Phan Ha from Dong Nai province said that to implement renovation, great responsibility should be given to leaders who have renovation-oriented minds.
Minh Khang from Hai Phong cited an old story when an official of Lang Son province told the local media that we should lease forest to foreign investors and the future will be taken care by the future generations. According to Khang, if we have right leaders, who have long-term visions, there will not make wrong policies.
Manh Hung from Hanoi said that if Vietnam chooses leaders who have long-term visions, there will not be anyshort-term and temporary forecasts and half-done policies and projects caused by short-term visions.
Open-minded leaders will be the ones who can catch the trend of the age and choose the right way for the nation.
But how to choose the right leaders?
Le Thang from Lam Dong province wondered: “To select leaders with long-term visions, the upcoming National Party Congress should change the current form of election. Recently we voted directly for the Party Secretaries of some provinces and cities but if we had only one nominee, he/she would have been elected.”
A reader at ntc_infor@... wrote: “I’m worried about the recommendation of personnel for the upcoming Party Congress. Nominees must run for election.”
Nguyen Ha from Hanoi also said that only democratic elections can help select the right leaders.
The 11th National Party Congress will be held in early January 2011. The congress is to review the implementation of the 10-year strategy for national socio-economic development adopted at the 9th Party Congress and decide on another development strategy for the next 10 years.
The Congress will discuss directions, targets and tasks regarding national construction and defence for the 2011-2015 period and elect a new Party Central Committee for the 11th tenure. After that, election of the People’s Councils, the People’s Committees at all levels and the 13th National Assembly will be organized.
The National Party Congress takes place once every five years to elect the new Party Central Committee and the Politburo.
