VietNamNet Bridge – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong joined four other candidates for the 13th National Assembly in meeting with voters in Ha Noi's Tay Ho District on May 9, as part of their election campaigning.

Trong, who also doubles as Secretary of the Central Military Party Commission and Chairman of the 12th National Assembly, along with the four other candidates presented their personal manifestos at the meeting.

The candidates promised that if elected, they would do their utmost to fulfil their tasks and contribute to renewing and improving the efficiency of the legislature's operations.

The candidates also pledged to remain in close contact with the people and survey their opinions so they could formulate policies and laws that met their voter's aspirations and the tasks facing the nation.

In his speech, Trong stressed the extremely important role and task of the 13th National Assembly in the context of a fluctuating world and domestic economy.

The entire Party and people were sparing no efforts to implement the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress, accelerate the renewal process and realise the target of turning Viet Nam into a modern, industrialised country by 2020, he said.

The leader went on to say that to meet these targets, the 13th National Assembly needed to continue renewing the organisation and operation of the legislature, subordinate bodies and NA delegations.

"The most important thing is to elect to the 13th National Assembly those who are the most worthy and have sufficient qualifications, professionalism and capacity to accomplish these responsibilities," the Party chief noted.

The same day, other candidates for the 13th National Assembly met with voters in the capital's districts of Dong Da, Thanh Xuan, Thuong Tin, Dong Anh, Long Bien and Me Linh and Son Tay Town.
