It is imperative to make a real change in Party organization and building, said Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the national conference on Party-building work in 2012 that closed in Hanoi on January 11.

In his speech, Party leader Trong said the conference gave a full assessment of the Party organization sector’s work in 2011 and devised solutions to implement key tasks for 2012.
Over the past year, despite facing difficulties presented by the complex global situation, the entire Party and people exerted every effort to bring the 11th National Party Congress resolution to life through specific action plans and programmes such as conducting the election of deputies to the 13th National Assembly and the People’s Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term, step by step curbing inflation, stabilizing the macroeconomy and ensuring social welfare.
Concentration was also on promoting external activities, maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for the process of national construction and development, and raising Vietnam’s status in the international arena.
What Vietnam achieved over the past year will provide fresh impetus for implementing all the targets and tasks set for 2012 while consolidating people’s confidence in the Party. Top priority in 2012 should continue to be on controlling inflation, stabilizing the macroeconomy, ensuring social welfare and a reasonable economic growth rate, renewing the growth model, restructuring the national economy and improving the efficiency of foreign affairs activities to promote international integration, Mr Trong said.
The Party chief underlined the need to fully realize the 11th National Party Congress resolutions, revamp legal policies on land management and salary, reform education and training, develop uniform infrastructure, restructure the national economy and deal with urgent issues related to Party building.
In the current situation, it is essential to increase the Party’s leadership capacity and combative strength to meet the growing demands for Party building and rectification.
After one and a half days, the conference reached a consensus on the Party organization sector’s review of 2011 tasks, and orientations and tasks set for the coming years.
In the spirit of democracy, frankness and objectivity, delegates contributed their heart-felt opinions praising the achievements recorded during the past year, while pointing out limitations and weaknesses in Party building. They also made proposals on improving personnel organization, Party members’ capacity and building Party organizations, and put forth opinions on the Politburo’s regulation on rotating leaders and managers in State agencies.
In conclusion, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Organization Commission To Huy Rua said that this year, the Organization Commission will work together with Party agencies to implement 35 projects on planning the PCC, the Politburo, the Secretariat and senior Party and State positions.
Mr Rua stressed the necessity of improving the operational efficiency of State apparatus in the political system, promoting democracy in personnel organization, renewing meetings of Party cells and excising criticism and self-criticism among Party members.
On the occasion, the PCC’s Organization Commission presented certificates of merit to collectives and individuals for outstanding performance in 2011.
