The leader congratulated each of them on their appointment, which he described as a great honour and also a heavy responsibility.

He urged them to thoroughly grasp and fully perform their assigned missions while creatively applying the Party and State’s external guidelines and policies, ultimately ensuring a peaceful and stable environment for national development.

The diplomats need to actively submit proposals on foreign affairs to the Party and State, especially on major issues relating to national interests and sovereignty, he noted, asking for their utmost endeavour in implementing expatriate-related work and helping overseas Vietnamese integrate into local communities and contribute to the homeland.

The General Secretary also requested the diplomats make their offices and agencies a representation of Vietnam’s image to popularise the country’s land, people and culture to the international community. They should also act as a friendship and cooperation bridge linking Vietnam with other nations and partners.

At the meeting, ambassadors and chiefs of representative agencies expressed their honour to be accredited and voiced their willingness to contribute to national development.

They committed to all-out efforts to fulfil assigned tasks for the sake of the nation.
