VietNamNet Bridge – Party General Secretary and Chairman of the National Assembly, Nguyen Phu Trong, received Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong in Hanoi on February 28. 

The Vietnamese Party and legislative leader expressed his pleasure at seeing the development of Vietnam-Laos relations, which become more effective and practical. 

He said he hopes that the two governments will work closer together to direct ministries, branches and localities to implement the joint agreements and specific measures to improve the quality of human resource training and raise two-way trade in order to ensure the process, quality and effectiveness of investment projects. 

Party General Secretary Trong highlighted important achievements made by the Lao Party, State and people in the country’s renewal process and development, saying he believes that the Lao people will continue to attain more achievements and turn Laos into a peaceful, independent, democratic and prosperous country oriented towards socialism. 

He also took this occasion to wish Laos success in organising its ninth National Party Congress and the seventh National Assembly election. 

The Lao PM congratulated Vietnam on its successful organisation of the 11th National Party Congress and Nguyen Phu Trong on his election as Party General Secretary. 

He informed Party General Secretary and NA Chairman Trong of Laos ’ preparations for its ninth National Party Congress and the seventh National Assembly election as well as results of his talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung. 

PM Thammavong also expressed his gratitude for the Vietnamese Party, State and people’s assistance to the Lao revolutionary cause and affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people will do their utmost, together with Vietnam , to foster the consolidation and development of the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos to make it everlasting.
