He also said the visit to Vietnam by Speaker Khin Aung Myint will further promote the friendship and cooperation between the two legislative bodies and the two countries.
Trong said he hopes Myanmar will gain more achievements in its democratisation, open door policy, reforms and development.
He expressed the wish to promote exchange and increase the friendly cooperation between Vietnam and Myanmar.
For his part, Speaker Khin Aung Myint affirmed Myanmar’s policy of attaching importance to further bolstering the close neighbourliness, traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam.
He said he wishes the Vietnamese people greater achievements in building a prosperous nation under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
State President pledges support for Myanmar development
Vietnam will do its best to assist Myanmar in its national development process, says State President Truong Tan Sang.
Mr Sang made the statement at a June 22 reception in Hanoi for Khin Aung Myint, President of the Myanmar Parliament and the Speaker of its Upper House.
President Sang spoke highly of Myanmar’s recent achievements in national construction and development and the country’s successful Parliamentary by-elections in April.
He said he is pleased with the development of bilateral relationship and proposed that both countries strengthen people-to-people exchanges.
This, he added, will promote mutual trust and understanding and provide a forum to work out ways to effectively foster cooperation in the future.
Although economic cooperation has steadily increased, it is not on par with the two countries’ potential, Mr Sang said, urging both countries’ ministries and agencies to enhance ties by establishing a direct channel to provide information on law, policies, trade and investment.
The State leader said he hopes that both countries will support each other in the international arena and expressed his belief that Myanmar will fulfill its mission as ASEAN Chair in 2014.
President Myint said that he is delighted with the positive changes he has seen in Vietnam in recent years and hopes the country will continue to maintain macroeconomic growth and ensure social welfare.
The Myanmar Parliamentary chief said he believes the visit will contribute to enhancing the traditional relationship between the two countries.
Vietnam treasures ties with Myanmar
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has reaffirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the age-old relationship and multifaceted cooperation with Myanmar.
During his June 22 talks in Hanoi with Khin Aung Myint, President of the Myanmar Parliament and Speaker of its Upper House, NA chairman Hung congratulated Myanmar on its successful organization of Parliamentary by-elections in April.
The chief legislator spoke highly of Myanmar’s achievements in all fields, especially in economics and diplomacy, which have raised its position in the international arena.
Mr Hung also expressed his delight at the development of in-depth bilateral cooperation, following Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to Myanmar in 2011 and President Thein Sein’s visit to Vietnam in March 2012.
He said he believes Mr Myint’s visit will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two legislative bodies and the two countries in general.
President Myint briefed the host on Myanmar’s socio-economic situation and parliamentary operation, saying that the country’s economic reform is focused on agricultural development, industrialization, and modernization with the aim of reducing poverty rate by two percent every year.
Myanmar’s Parliament is discussing the content of foreign investment law to improve the country’s economic situation, promote poverty reduction and create more jobs for people, he said.
Host and guest agreed to maintain the regular exchange of delegations at all levels to share experience in law-making and supervision activity and set up Vietnam-Myanmar and Myanmar-Vietnam friendship parliamentarian groups.
They also agreed to create favourable conditions for businesses to invest in the two countries for mutual benefits.
