VietNamNet Bridge – Pay TV services firms in Vietnam have had around 12.5 million subscribers this year, with total revenue amounting to VND12 trillion (nearly US$527.3 million), according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Saigontourist Cable TV (SCTV) alone has reported revenue of over VND3.4 trillion and pre-tax profit of VND290 billion this year. It has paid about VND400 billion in taxes and its employees have average monthly income of VND14 million each.
The nation now has 32 television services enterprises, 30 of them pay TV providers. There are 67 radio and television stations nationwide. The number of radio and TV channels stands at 77 and 103 respectively while pay TV channels amount to 79.
Data of the ministry shows that the information technology industry would generate nearly VND939.4 trillion in revenue this year, up 10% year-on-year. The sector would pay VND93.94 trillion in taxes for the State, a 10% rise compared to the previous year.
The IT industry has obtained rapid growth, thus generating high sales and export revenue. Its products and services are able to meet domestic and international demands.
The IT industry employs more than 600,000 workers, with more than half of them working for hardware and electronics firms, and the remainder for software and digital content services businesses.
According to a 2016 review report released by the ministry, the IT sector is still grappling with difficulties, including the lack of supporting industries and human resources for software production, and the shortage of products which that competitive on global markets.
