VietNamNet Bridge – Environmental violators will face maximum penalty increase to VND1 billion for individuals and VND2 billion ($88,495) for organizations, according to the Government’s recently issued Decree 155.

Specifically, individual violators breaking environmental regulations at industrial parks, export processing zones, hi-tech parks, handicraft villages and seafood farming areas will be fined VND5-500 million.

The fine will be VND300,000- VND1 billion for individuals releasing wastewater into the environment. Those breaking fume and dust regulations will be penalized VND10 million-VND1 billion.

Individuals discharging toxic chemical, solid waste and substandard treatment wastewater into the sea, natural reserves and natural relic sites will be fined VND250-500 million.

Those dumping radioactive waste into Vietnamese waters will be penalized VND500 million-VND1 billion.

The penalty for the above violations by organizations will be double compared to the level for individuals.
