Retired officers, workers and servicemen will receive an 8% increase of their monthly pension, allowance and social insurance benefits from January 1, 2015, according to a decree recently issued by the Government.

According to the decree, the increase in the monthly pension, allowance and social insurance benefits will be given to retired officials, civil servants and labourers including those participating in voluntary social insurance programmes, retirees from the Nghe An's farmer social insurance fund, and servicemen and policemen who receive a monthly pension.

Retired officials who previously worked at grassroots agencies, people receiving allowances for loss of working capacity and workers in the rubber industry will also benefit from the new policy.

The decree will take effect from Mach 10. Expenditure for the pension increase will be paid by the State budget and the Social Insurance Fund.

On November 10 in 2014, the National Assembly issued the Resolution No.78, deciding to increase the pension and allowance for national contributors by 8% and increase salaries by 8% to low-income civil servants and armed force officials with a salary scale of less than 2.34.
