VietNamNet Bridge – Now the summer season is here (ironically during the middle of the rainy season) the weekend breaks of Saigonese are the norm and the hordes are heading off to Mui Ne and we thought we would join them. The rain sometimes gets to us all.
So, last weekend we headed off by car and despite the usual traffic woes on the road and taking five-and-a-half-hours, once we arrived the city and traffic woes were a distant past as we settled into our nice, quiet resort.
Some of our group were quite happy to sit by the pool and enjoy some cocktails and soak in the water when needed but the more adventurous of us decided to go on a car ride on the coast to see where it would take us.
We decided to stop for some of the delicious seafood on offer at a small beach side eaterie served barbecue style. Shrimp, crab, squid and of course trying the area’s specialty fish sauce was a must.
We then headed down to watch some water sports further down the coast but the overcast weather put paid to us joining in. However, it was nice just to take it all in from the comfort of the car, a rare treat.
Such is life, it was time to head back to our resort to enjoy a nice soothing massage before heading down to the pool to join our lazy friends and enjoy some cocktails and sample the easy life before heading out on the town to enjoy the Mui Ne nightlife.
Mui Ne has all expatriates or locals need for two or three days away from the city. Beautiful beaches, sand dunes, historical sites, gorgeous seafood and the East Sea. Mui Ne is the perfect weekend break if the rainy season is getting you down. Don’t be shy.
