Update news personal data protection
As Vietnam prepares to enforce the Personal Data Protection Law, businesses must address vulnerabilities in processes, technology, and employee training to avoid hefty penalties.
Experts observed that there is now a systematic trade in personal data and in some cases, with warranty or updates per the buyer’s request.
The Vietnam’s Decree No.13 is believed to be similar to a European Union (EU) law on personal data protection.
Some service companies that have collected the personal data of customers have allowed third parties to access this data source.
"There are still legal gaps on personal data protection that need to be filled in in the coming time," Dr. Chu Thi Hoa, deputy director of the Institute of Legal Sciences (Ministry of Justice) told VietNamNet.
