According to the commission, the decision was made based on the opinion of Le Hong Anh, permanent member of the Central Party Committee’s Secretariat, and Nguyen Ba Thanh, the commission’s chief, who is now in a hospital in Da Nang for medical treatment.
Trac was once the Chair and Party Secretary of Nghe An Province before being appointed deputy chief of the Central Commission for International Affairs.
Last May, the commission’s chief Nguyen Ba Thanh was diagnosed with bone marrow disorders and was treated in the Hanoi-based Hospital 108.
He was then taken to Singapore and the United States for treatment. Thanh returned home and is now being treated at the Hospital of Da Nang City.
Thanh was born in 1953 in Hoa Vang, Da Nang. He served as Chairman and Party Secretary of Da Nang. His statement "saying is doing" is supported and trusted by the public, which expected Thanh’s positive contribution to the fight against corruption when he assumed the position of Head of the Central Commission for Internal Affairs in late December 2012.
