VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese contestant Phan Thi Mo, 22, entered the top ten of beauties at the Miss Asia USA, on the final night on August 20 in California, USA. A contestant from South Korea was crowned.

Vietnamese girl invited to Miss Asia USA 2011

The final round of the 23rd Miss Asia USA pageant was held at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center in Redondo Beach City, South California, on the evening of August 28, with an audience of over 1,000.

This year, Miss Asia in USA pageant attracted contestants from 58 Asian countries and territories. Twenty-three girls representing Thailand, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Japan, Mongolia, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, Taiwan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Myanmar, Iran, etc. entered the finals.

Phan Thi Mo is one of the two representatives of Vietnam, together with Vietnamese – American Valerie Pham from Garden Grove.


Phan Thi Mo was one of the top five beauties at Miss Vietnam World 2010 pageant. The 1.72 m-tall girl from the southern province of Tien Giang is a senior majoring in tourism at the College of Arts and Cultural Tourism in HCM City.

The final round featured evening gown, national costume, and swimsuit performances besides the question-answer session.

Mo entered the question-answer round. She was the only contestant who needed the assistance of an interpreter. Though she did not win the highest title, Mo said the pageant gave her a big chance to meet and learn from other contestants around the world.


After the question-answer round, two representatives of South Korea and those of Japan, Mongolia and Indonesia entered the final.

Korean Jacqueline Kim, 21, was crowned Miss Asia USA 2011. She also won the prize for Best National Costume.

In 2006, Vietnamese beauty Jennifer Pham won the contest.
