Speaking with VietNamNet, Bui Ngoc Lam, Chairman of the Mui Ne Ward People’s Committee, stated that once the incident was brought to the attention of local authorities, a meeting was held with the café’s owner to address the situation.

At the meeting, representative of the cafe owner, N.V.N. acknowledged the wrongdoing of the employee in the video, recognizing the negative impact this behavior had on the environment.

Through an investigation, local authorities confirmed that the business had been responsible for dumping plastic waste into the sea in Quarter 10 of Mui Ne Ward, negatively affecting the marine environment.

Officials issued a fine of 1.5 million VND to the café based on a recommendation from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Mui Ne. In addition to the fine, the café’s owner and staff were required to restore the environment to its original state.

"Besides the administrative fine, we also asked the café’s owner to commit in writing not to repeat such actions, and we reminded the staff to regularly clean up the surrounding area," said Chairman Lam.

According to Lam, from April to September (the Southern monsoon season), local authorities routinely clean up waste that washes ashore in Mui Ne Bay and use heavy equipment to transport the waste for proper disposal to maintain the area's beauty.

Furthermore, through various media channels, the local government plans to continue reminding businesses to improve their environmental awareness and responsibility.

The incident occurred after a video posted on social media on October 14 showed an employee of the café in Mui Ne throwing used plastic cups into the sea, which sparked public outrage and calls for a boycott of the business.

Speaking with VietNamNet, N.T.T.T., the co-owner of the café, expressed shock and sadness over the incident, which occurred shortly after the business's recent opening.

T. explained that the person in the video was a part-time employee who had only worked for two days, on the previous Saturday and Sunday.
