The Ministry has issued a document to the Vietnam Road Administration and Phuong Thanh Transport Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company (the investor) regarding the expansion of the expressway through the PPP model.
The expansion aims to meet increasing transportation demands, reduce traffic congestion, and boost the socio-economic development of the region.
It is also a step toward completing the national road network plan for the period 2021–2030, with a vision extending to 2050, as approved by the Prime Minister.
Expansion plan and coordination
The Ministry of Construction has endorsed the investor's proposal, emphasizing the importance of conducting research and investing in the expansion of the Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway through the PPP model.
The Vietnam Road Administration has been tasked with leading the coordination between the investor, project enterprises, and related agencies to ensure that the subsequent steps comply with legal regulations.
Proposed expansion options
Earlier, on March 7, Phuong Thanh Transport Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Construction, suggesting three expansion options for the Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway to increase capacity to 10–12 lanes under the PPP model:
Option 1: Expand from Phap Van Interchange to Phu Thu Interchange. To minimize land clearance and reduce the impact on local residents, the expanded road will be constructed as an elevated viaduct running along the median strip between the expressway and service roads.
Option 2: Expand from Phap Van Interchange to Dai Xuyen Interchange. Similar to Option 1, the elevated viaduct will be built along the median strip between the expressway and service roads.
Option 3: Expand from Phap Van Interchange to Dai Xuyen Interchange, with a focus on the segment from Phap Van to Khe Hoi Interchange, which passes through several residential areas. To minimize land clearance and reduce the impact on local communities, the elevated viaduct will be constructed along the route.
The Ministry of Construction has instructed the Vietnam Road Administration to take the lead in collaboration with investors and related units to implement the next steps in line with legal requirements.
