The French coach will sign a three-year contract with the Vietnam Football Federation. He has proposed work with Vietnamese assistants Nguyen Viet Thang and Mai Xuan Hop. The two former national players worked with the French coach during his time at PVF and U18 Vietnam.

The new coach will also employ a language assistant and a data analyst from the PVF center and he may take 1-2 foreign assistants to Vietnam.

Previously, Korean Coach Park Hang Seo mainly used Korean assistants, besides some Vietnamese such as Lu Dinh Tuan, Vu Hong Viet, Nguyen The Anh, and Nguyen Anh Duc. 

Up to now, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and coach Philippe Troussier have basically reached a consensus on his tasks at the national team and the national U23 team as well as the goals of the national team in the coming period.

It is expected that the announcement ceremony of the new coach of the national team and national U23 squad will be held by VFF next week. The two sides have decided to cooperate for more than 3 years, from March 1, 2023 to July 31, 2026. The VFF wants coach Philippe Troussier to have a long-term preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

The first task of coach Philippe Troussier is to build up the force and operational plan of the national U23 team, which will gather early March to prepare for the 32nd SEA Games hosted by Cambodia this May.

At the end of March, the Vietnamese team will group up to play 1-2 friendly matches. Until November 2023 that coach Philippe Troussier will have his first official tournament when the national team plays 2 matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
