According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, April alone witnessed the country’s export value of the products reach more than US$4.2 billion, up 9.1% compared to the same period last year.
A report by HSBC indicates that Vietnam’s export share reached 13% of the global smartphone market, surpassing India to become the world's second largest smartphone exporter, just behind China.
The United States became the largest purchaser of Vietnamese phones and components. In the first quarter of this year, the US spent US$3.05 billion importing these products from Vietnam, up 30.4% year on year.
During the reviewed period, China came second with over US$2.5 billion, down 28% year on year; and the UAE third with US$897,984, up 55.3%.
