VietNamNet Bridge – The 6th international artistic photo contest and exhibition began yesterday, May 23, in Ha Noi.

It is being organised by the Viet Nam Association of Photographic Artists with the sponsorship of the International Federation of Photographic Art.

Each participant is allowed to send four photographs in each section. Photographs should be digital, resolution 300dpi (max 1Mb in size), and never displayed in international competitions organised by the association or in Viet Nam.

Entrants should be sent to contestvn2011@gmail.com or: The Composing and Exhibition Department, Viet Nam Association Photographic Artists, 51 Tran Hung Dao, Hoan Kiem District, Ha Noi or submitted through www.contestvn2011.com.

The deadline is August 31. Results will be published on September 30. Selected photographs will be put on exhibition at the end of November.

* Primary school kids win painting comp

Six schools have received prizes worth VND400 million (US$19,000) each after a national painting contest for primary school students that had them paint their dream playgrounds.

The contest, which was held between March 1 and April 30 by the Ministry of Education's Primary Education Department in collaboration with dairy firm FrieslandCampina Viet Nam, received more than 20,000 entries from more than 2,000 schools nationwide.

Construction of the first playground based on ideas contained in the winning paintings began Friday at the Tran Van On Primary School in HCM City's District 12.

The other winners are schools in Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Vung Tau and Vinh Long.
