VietNamNet Bridge – A photograph featuring a boy with a cleft-palate standing behind a curtain touched the hearts of viewers at the Photo Competition 2014 Awards Ceremony, held on November 26 by the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism.

The photograph titled “Behind the Smile” by Tran Trong Luom from Binh Thuan Province won the Special Award. The character in this photo is a boy named Ta Yen Nghiep, a student at the Ma Noi primary school in Ninh Son district, NinhThuan province.

As soon as the photo was posted on the contest website, it touched many hearts. Many people have raised funds to help bring the boy to HCM City for a charity operation.

Launched in August 2014, the contest attracted the participation of about 10,000 authors with more than 30,000 works in both categories Landscape and Moments of Life.

At the awards ceremony in HCM City, the organizers presented two first prizes, two second prizes, two third prizes and eight consolation prizes, totaling VND500 million ($25,000).

First Prize: Ganh Da Dia in Phu Yen Province by Huynh Le VienDuy.

Second prize: Vinh Long pottery village by Pham Tri Nhan.

Third Prize: Rest by Pham Van Ty.

Moment of Life Category

First Prize: Pray by To Cong Vinh.

Second Prize: Check the lift net by Nguyen Van Dua.

Third Prize: Sunlight by Trinh Viet Hung.
