VietNamNet Bridge – Super-thin houses with odd shapes have been built for hundreds of million of US dollars along Tran Phu and Nguyen Van Huyen streets in Hanoi.

In mid-February the Tran Phu Road was completed. The 450 m long road was built at VND350 billion ($17 million). However, site clearance along the road has not finished, leaving an ugly view.

Super-thin and oddly formed houses have been built along the road although the Hanoi authorities have said they were going to put an end to the situation.

Many houses are only 1m long and 3m wide.

The families in the households said they had to live and do business in the houses, which they know are illegal.

Also completed in early 2015, the 566m Nguyen Van Huyen Road cost more than VND969 billion ($46 million), including VND680 billion ($28 million) for site clearance. The sidewalks are still unfinished.

Many slim and odd-shaped houses are built along the new road.

Other roads have been built in the capital at record high prices: O Cho Dua - Hoang Cau Road with a total investment of VND800 billion (nearly $40 million) for 545 m; Tran Phu Road with VND225 billion for 450 m ($16 million), and Kim Lien - O Cho Dua with VND733 billion for 1,500 m ($36 million).
