VietNamNet Bridge - Dozens of US, Cambodian, Thai, and Singaporean soldiers have helped repair schools, clinics and given check-ups for the poor in Quang Ngai province.

 


 

Sixty-five American soldiers and medical professionals, doctors, engineers from Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam have begun to participate in charity activities in Quang Ngai under the Pacific Angel (PACANGEL) program which will last until the end of March.

 

 

 
 

 

They will repair and build two schools in Binh Thanh Dong and Nam Tinh Phong commune and two health stations in Mo Duc, and give health checkups for the people.


 

 
 


 

 

Classrooms in the Binh Thanh Dong Elementary School have been re-painted by American, Thai, Cambodian and Singaporean soldiers. This event is in a series of activities in the field of security - defense between Vietnam and the United States, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of normalization of relations between the two countries (1995-2015).

"Joining the Pacific Angel campaign this time I’m very honored to have exchange with Vietnamese friends. I hope that after completion, these works will become unforgettable memories of my life," said sergeant-major Lizárraga.

 

 

 
 

 

On this occasion, medical soldiers are also giving health checkups to people in Quang Ngai. This year's program gave humanitarian assistance of $1.4 million to Quang Ngai. The Command of the US - Pacific Air Force also granted $690,000 to build a disaster prevention center in Quang Ngai.

Darcy Yoshimoto - commander of the Pacific Angel Program – said since 2007, the US military and the countries in the region have contributed to improving the lives of thousands of people.

 

 
 

Soldiers play with students at Binh Thanh Dong School. According to Lt. Col. Darcy Yoshimoto, within the framework of this campaign, the US Air Force will send a C130 transport aircraft with 13 employees to communicate with Division 372. The two sides will exchange experience in operating military aircraft and hold a seminar on humanitarian assistance.
