The incident took place on Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, Da Kao Ward, District 1 in HCM City. Local residents said the strong rain and winds knocked down two trees on the road.

One of the trees crushed the motorcycle driven by Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, 36, from District 10 and the motorbike of another man who was carrying his wife and two children.

The woman named Dung was badly injured. Fortunately, the man and the two children had mild scratches. The woman was quickly brought to the hospital, but she later died.

Nguyen Binh Khiem Street was quickly blocked for investigation.

The falling trees had a trunk diameter of about 50 cm.

 An electric pole was nearly broken after a big tree fell onto the electric wire.
