VietNamNet Bridge – As his wife practiced usury--Mr. Nguyen Van Quoc, Deputy Party Secretary of the island district of Phu Quoc, in Kien Giang province, has been dismissed.

Mr. Quoc’s wife – Nguyen Ngoc Diep, who is former vice chief of the Kien Giang Department of Transport’s office – borrowed money from others to practice usury  (4-12 percent/month), with a total amount of VND8 billion ($400,000).

Mr. Quoc knew about his wife’s usury but he did not honestly report to the local Party cell about his wife’s act.

In addition, Quoc’s wife was also related to land transfer affairs in the Long Xuyen quadriangle area.

Diep’s usury and Quoc’s lack of honest has raised bad rumors among the local people and their acts have harmed the prestige of the local Party cell.

The Party Committee of Kien Giang province has dismissed Quoc from his position as the vice party secretary of Phu Quoc Island.
