Ngoc is accused of “receiving bribes” involving a large sum of money under Clause 4, Article 354 of Vietnam’s Penal Code.
Le Dinh Thanh Son, director of Phu Tho General Hospital, was also charged with the same offense.
Both defendants have been placed in pre-trial detention in connection with a case involving alleged violations of accounting regulations causing serious consequences, smuggling and bribery at Viet My Medical Investment Joint Stock Company and related organizations and localities.
After receiving approval from the Supreme People’s Procuracy, the Economic Police Department carried out the procedural decisions and orders against Son and Ngoc in accordance with the law.
The department is continuing its investigation to determine the scope of the case and clarify the roles and alleged offenses of the defendants and other people involved. Authorities are also seeking to expand the investigation, establish the full nature of the case and recover state assets.
