VietNamNet Bridge – On the morning of April15, many people went to the People’s Committee of Ward 9 in Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province for document authentication, but they were surprised to see the announcement on the office gate "The office is closed for a meeting."

Ms. Cong Thi Lan, Chair of Ward 9, explained that after the Monday flag-saluting ceremony, the seal holder checked and he still saw all seals in the seal box. Then, five officials entered the room to make some photocopies and seal some documents. They used the seal of the Ward 9 People's Committee Office twice.

The seal holder then went to the office of the ward chair for ten minutes and when this person returned to the room, he found out that the seal of the Ward 9 People's Committee Office had disappeared.

"At that time, the office did not receive any citizen. Only public servants were in the office. From the time the seal was used for the last time until it disappeared is only ten minutes. I confirm that only the committee’s staff stole this seal," the ward’s chair said.

Police officers and the ward’s officials checked all furniture in the office and personal belongings of all officers and employees as well as the whole campus but they could not find the seal.

"We have asked all employees to make reports and called for the thief to return the seal but nobody answered," Ms. Lan said.

The Chair said on the early morning of April 15, an officer sent his resignation to the Ward 9 Party Committee, with the reason "I do not want to waste time for a place where I cannot develop." She reiterated this many times and said unusual things happened in the office.

"The loss of the seal has greatly affected the work of the local government. The incident has been reported to the Tuy Hoa Municipal People’s Committee and the city police,” Lan said.

Regarding the incident, Mr. Tran Hien, Acting Chairman of Tuy Hoa City, said he had asked police to investigate the incident. Meanwhile, the ward will have to wait for a new seal.
