VietNamNet Bridge - An official of the Lottery Company of Phu Yen Province said many people in Phu Yen won the lottery of great value on October 7. Specifically, 23 people have received the special prizes with the number 06868.

These were the lottery tickets released by the Khanh Hoa Lottery Company on October 7, with par value of VND5,000/tickets and VND125 million ($6,000) for the jackpot.

Coming to Dong Phuoc Village, in Hoa An commune, Phu Hoa district, Phu Yen province, when correspondents asked locals about the people who won the jackpots, they showed different ways because there are a lot of jackpot winners in the village.

The first winner is Mrs. Le Thi A, 70, who won two special prizes. Her son, named S, immediately told reporters the "shimmering" number: 06868.

Her daughter-in-law said: "When she knew about the results of the jackpot, my mother just hugged the bag that contained the two tickets with her trembling hands. She could not believe in her ears, her eyes. My mother rarely bought lottery tickets but that lucky day she was solicited to buy lottery by her neighbor."

Mr. Nguyen Xuan M, 80, her husband, confided: "At the end of our life we can hold such a large amount of money, up to over VND200 million ($10,000)! Hearing the results, my wife and I were shocked!".

Then he said: "We will give our five children with VND20 million ($1,000) each. We will also give some money to the poor in the region. Then we will repair our house and deposit at bank".

Mrs. D’s neighbor, Luu Thi B, 71, also won two special prizes. "That day, I went to the market, bought two lottery tickets and I incited my neighbor to buy together. I joked that if we win the jackpot, we will travel together".

Then she said she went to a gold shop to exchange the tickets for cash, paying service cost of VND500,000/ ticket, plus 10 percent of personal income tax.

"Because this is a familiar gold shop of mine so they charged only VND500,000/tickets, other gold shops would have charged me VND1-1.5 million/ticket. I’m very happy. I will give some money to my children, my grandchildren, and do charity, too," Mrs. B said.

She directed reporters to a few people who also hit the jackpots in the neighborhood, such as Mr. Hai T, Ms. Chin Sat, Mr. Nam C, or Ms. Ba Nho, etc.

Mr. Dang Van Sia, Chairman of Hoa An commune, said that in Dong Phuoc, nearly a dozen of people hit the jackpot, each of them having one or two tickets.

The biggest winner is Mrs. Do Thi D, who hit up to 8 jackpots. D is a small trader at the local market while her husband is a construction worker. They have many children and have to take care of their old mother.

The first thing that they did after winning the special prize is redeeming half of the house that they had sold before, then taking care of their "big family" and doing charity.

The family took the tickets to a gold shop to exchange for nearly VND1 billion ($50,000), after deducting tax personal income and service fee of VND1.5 million/ticket.

Mr. Vo Ngoc Tam, Director of Khanh Hoa Lottery Company, said so far 23 winners have came to the company to receive the special prizes to the number 06868, in the 30 tickets of the same serial number. The payment will be granted today, October 10. There may have other jackpot winners who did not want to "come out" early.
