VietNamNet Bridge – Taking advantage of a blackout, worker Le Cong Chanh of the Tan Binh Phu Co., Ltd. in the central province of Phu Yen, lied down on a pile of paper on the floor to sleep and he was ground by a paper grinder.
The accident occurred the night of December 13. An official of the Tan Phu Binh company told VietNamNet that Chanh, 19, from Song Cau Town, Phu Yen province, had worked for the firm for two years.
On the fatal night, as power was cut, Chan lied down on a pile of paper on the floor and felt asleep. A while later, power was back on. Excavators worked again. A driver did not pay attention that a worker was lying on the pile of paper on the ground so he shoveled papers and the worker to put in a pulp grinder.
The incident was only detected when some workers who carried pulp from the grinder to the paper processing machine saw the ground head of the victim.
The worker was brought to his hometown for burying.
Tan Binh Phu Company said that though Chanh worked for the firm for two years, he did not have insurance.
The case is under further investigation.
